The Nederlandse Kooikerhondje, often simply called the Kooikerhondje, is a small, spaniel-type dog with a rich history as a working decoy dog in the Netherlands. Its name translates to 'cage dog' or 'cage hunter,' reflecting its original role in luring ducks into funnel-shaped traps called 'koois.'
