The Great Gascony Blue, also known as the Grand Bleu de Gascogne, is a majestic and ancient French scent hound, recognized by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) in Group 6. With its striking blue-mottled coat, long drooping ears, and soulful expression, this breed embodies the classic pack hound. Originating from the Gascony region of southwestern France, it is one of the oldest French hound breeds, with roots tracing back to the Middle Ages. Historically used for hunting large game such as wolves, boar, and deer, the Great Gascony Blue is a powerful and determined tracker with a remarkable nose and a resonant, baying voice.
