The Grand Griffon Vendeen is a large, rustic French scenthound, one of four Griffon Vendeen breeds, known for its shaggy coat, long ears, and expressive, often solemn expression. Bred to hunt boar and deer in the dense, rugged terrain of the Vendée region, this dog is a working hound first and foremost, prized for its endurance, determination, and musical bay. While not as widely known as its smaller cousin, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, the Grand Griffon Vendeen offers a unique blend of independence, athleticism, and loyalty for the right owner.
